Maybe I’m biased, but I think destination weddings are some of the most romantic. This is your chance to pick anywhere in the globe and have the celebration of your dreams! If you have been considering Florida for your destination wedding, I would love to help you out. As a Miami wedding photographer, I spend a lot of time working with couples to show off their dream celebrations. Here’s what you need to know for a destination wedding in Miami.
Your Ultimate Guide to Planning a Destination Wedding in Miami
When You Should Have Your Miami Destination Wedding & How to Pick Your Date
When picking your destination wedding date, the first thing to consider is the Miami weather. Lucky for you, Miami is gorgeous year-round, though it can be pretty hot in the summer. If you can brave the heat, you’ll be rewarded with tons of greenery and exceptional tropical vibes. Just be sure to provide your guests with plenty of shaded areas or cooking stations! Winter and Spring tend to be the most popular because the temps are mild.
Once you know the weather you want, it’s time to work with the venue to see what dates are available.
Miami Destination Wedding Locations
Next, it’s time to choose the Miami venue for your destination wedding! Here are a few of my favorite ideas:
On the beach: does it get any more classic than a Miami beach wedding? If you do choose this spot, your best bet is to work with a resort with exclusive locations.
Hotels: Most of the hotels around here offer all-inclusive packages for easy planning.
Vizcaya: this historic space will always have my heart. With romantic gardens and a beautiful villa, your wedding is going to be legendary!
How to Get a Miami License
You will need to get a license for your Miami wedding, but the process is super simple. Both spouses must be present at the local Clerk of the Court’s office, and you will each need a form of photo ID. There is an $86 fee as well as a 3-day waiting period before it becomes valid.
Things to Consider for Your Destination Wedding In Miami
Hiring a Miami Wedding Planner
A wedding planner is going to be the key to a successful day! I highly encourage you to book one for the planning process. Choose someone who knows the area and has the experience to keep your day positively seamless.
Guest Count
Remember that all your guests will need accommodations for a destination wedding in Miami. That might limit how many people you want to invite. You will need to make sure everyone has access to lodging and transportation. Most of the area venues will allow up to 200 guests.
Other Costs
There are other things to consider when creating your budget. First off, you probably aren’t flying to Miami, tying the knot, and going home minutes later. You will want to budget things like your hotel room, transportation to and from the venues, activities, and food throughout your time here. You also need to consider wedding accommodations like flowers, entertainment, and a photographer.
Hiring a Miami Wedding Photographer
Speaking of a photographer, make sure you book someone who knows the area so they can capture it in the very best light! That’s where I come in. I love working with couples so they can have portraits that celebrate their love while capturing the splendor of this city. I offer several packages so you can have lifelong memories of your dream day. Let’s work together so you can cherish your Miami wedding!
